5th Birthday Party

#wiggydiggy had his party at home with his friends and had a BLAST!

I also love it because - easy, fast, and nap time is right after ;)

The "theme" was Transformers.  So I decorated with some Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow balloons and streamers.  That's it. Nothing fancy this year because not a single kid cares.  All they want is to play and eat some cake.

The next night we had family over for dinner and fun.

#wiggydiggy - 4 years old

Happy 4th birthday Buggy!!  We LOVE you!

 You're 35.6 pounds and 3 feet 3 inches tall.
You're funny, loving, and very thoughtful.

Your vocabulary is off the charts.  You've started showing an interest in reading, so we are currently working on sight words.  You also are showing a lot of interest in basic math.

Some of Mom's favorite memories:

You say Snow Pile for Snow Plow.
You point out every decoration for the holidays.  So every house we drive by 'Christmas Lights!' 'Christmas Decorations!' 'American Flag!' 'Halloween Decorations!'
You love to know the sequence of the day and week.  You are very quick to point out if we aren't on schedule.
You still love to rub ears.  You've been rubbing your ear from the moment you were born and when you are upset you like to rub my ear to feel better.  I'm going to miss it when you grow up.
You're my very favorite #wiggydiggy.  There is no one like you.

A Hair Affair

There's been a lice breakout at #wiggydiggy's school.
AGAIN.

This is the second one this month.  UGH.
By breakout, I mean more than one child has been sent home with confirmed lice.

The first breakout included FOUR CLASSROOMS.  FOUR!  This breakout is just #wiggydiggy's class and the adjoining class (they share a great room).
So......
I'm terrified of lice.

We've been checking him after his bath every night and school has been checking every morning and so far, we've been in the clear.  However, I knew that on Monday, he played with, wrestled, and hugged the child who was sent home on Tuesday.
So we shaved his head.

I'd rather be sad over his bald head for a few weeks instead of treating lice!
He LOVES his haircut (because he looks like Daddy) and was so excited to show it off at school today.

I'm going to miss his thick head of hair and his super cute haircut for a little while.

First Day of School

Today I cried.
Thankfully I was the only one.

#wiggydiggy moved up to the 4 year old room and is lucky to have the same teachers again!
He ran to his room without a wave or kiss good-bye.
I hope he never loses his scrunched smile.
He's gotten so tall!  I swear he's all arms and legs now.
He is so kind.  This morning he waited and held open the door for another boy and told him 'Good Morning!'
He hugged his teacher as soon as he got in his classroom and then went off to play.

#biggywigs started baby class today.
He was happy and full of giggles when Justin and I dropped him off.  I had a box full of his supplies (bottle, frozen milk, pacifier, diapers, wipes, etc etc etc) and went over his feeding schedule before we said our good-byes.
I was fine until I gave him his kiss.  Then I bawled.
#biggywigs just smiled and reached for a toy.  So I know he'll be fine.

I am so very grateful I get to nurse him over the lunch hour.
I'm also very very grateful that he's generally a happy baby and loves to interact with people.

Brothers

I knew that I wanted #wiggydiggy to be the first to meet the baby.
He was so excited for his sibling to be born and I was so excited for him to be a big brother.

So we kept the baby's sex and name quiet until #wiggydiggy was able to come to the hospital.
That afternoon, Justin picked up #wiggydiggy after his nap from school and brought him to meet his new sibling.

I was a tiny bit nervous because #wiggydiggy had been asking for a baby sister for months.  Justin was too, so they talked about the new baby brother on the drive up.
I think #wiggydiggy was so excited to see his mom and dad, that he didn't care if it was a brother or sister!

He has been obsessed with his baby brother ever since.
Every day he asks to hold him 100 times.
He gives him 100 kisses and calls him 'My Sweetheart'.

Almost 3 1/2 - #wiggydiggy update

4 years ago around 6 AM, I found out we were going to become a family of 3.

Today, April 3, 2018, you are 3.
This is your last month as our only child.

You are the light of our lives and the laughter that fills our home.
You are also VERY EXCITED for the baby to arrive!

At 40 Months Old (ok - that cracked me up.  I actually had to sit down and count the dang months!  haha) or almost 3 1/2 you are one busy boy.

You Love
- All Sports
- 'Mighty Machines' aka Construction Equipment
- Jelly Beans
- Reading Books
- Police Sirens
- 'Round Cheeses' aka Baby-Bels
- Costco Applesauce Pouches
- Being Outside
- Road Trips

We moved you to a new school in September and we just had our first Parent/Teacher conference.  You are one smart boy!  Your teachers are amazed with your vocabulary and often tell you to let classmates answer the questions during Circle Time.  We are pretty dang proud of you :)
You recognize all your letters and are trying to write them now.  You recognize numbers by sight up to 20 and often count items while we are running errands.
You recognize your name by sight and can spell it for us as well.
(You also love "playing" flash cards.  This cracks your daddy and me up, but we will never discourage it!)

Your memory constantly amazes us.  You watch a very limited selection of shows, but you can tell us plot points, small details, and entire story lines WEEKS later after watching something once.

Yes, Daddy and I are very strict when it comes to screen time.  The only shows you are currently allowed to watch:
Little Einsteins
Super Why
Super Wings
Tumble Leaf
Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood
Blippi
Robocar Poli

This year you took your first ski lessons.  You loved it!  We can't wait to take you up again next winter!

Now, it's not all sunshine and rainbows.  You have a screech that could break glass when you are mad and not getting your way.  On Easter you threw an EPIC tantrum at church and we spent the whole service sitting in an empty classroom while you calmed down.  Thankfully you are a pretty happy kiddo and those fits are few and far between.

You are always trying to make us laugh by acting so silly.  Currently you are big into playing with all of the baby gear and baby toys.  You'll tell us how you are going to teach the baby to play with your old toys.  Haha.

You still have an obsession with Might Machines aka construction equipment.  You know all of their names and point every single one out to us that we pass by.

You wake around 6 AM and want snuggles before beginning your day.  You love school and are always coming home with something new to teach us.
You still nap (hallelujah) for at least 2 hours after lunch.  On the weekends you remind us during lunch that you're tired and get a nap after you eat.  Please, please, please don't outgrow naps for at least another year.  Please?
Bedtime is 8-ish.  Daddy and I tend to read to you longer than we should and we lay with you until you fall asleep.
Though - on the nights that we can't lay with you, you fall asleep earlier and quicker.  So you can blame Daddy and me for any sleep deprivation you have!  Haha.

You are a pretty decent eater.  Though, I'd love for you to eat more veggies.  You have a STRONG love for applesauce and eat at least 5 a day.

I love that your 'soothing' technique is still rubbing your ear.  You came out rubbing your ears and you haven't stopped in 3 years!  You even need to rub our ears before falling asleep and when waking up.

We love you so much buggy.
To the moon and back.

Pancakes and Pajamas

On December 2nd, we threw #wiggydiggy's 3rd birthday party.

I wanted a simple theme with easy food since we would be hosting at our home again.
(Last year we went to the carousel)

I saw these adorable invites on Etsy and the theme was set!

I made a double batch of pancakes and roll of cinnamon roll waffles.
Seriously - the easiest thing to make and always a huge hit!
I'll post the 'recipe' soon!

There was a coffee bar for the adults and juice for the kids.

Us parents let the kids run around the living room and toy room until it was time to sing Happy Birthday and open gifts.

Nothing better than wearing pajamas until noon :)
(Especially with a baby bump! haha)

After gifts, the kids went back to playing for about an hour and then everyone headed home.

I was pleasantly surprised my house wasn't destroyed!
I have no clue how that happened, but I'm not going to complain.

#wiggydiggy had the best time playing with his friends and he's already asking if he can turn 4 and have another party.
