Thanksgiving Recap

Thanksgiving was quiet this year.
#wiggydiggy and I missed dinner.  The family wanted to sit down to eat at 1:00, which fell smack dab in the middle of his nap.  Justin and I tried to keep him going, but at 11:30 he was Mr. Cranky Pants, so we fed him lunch (PB&J for the win!) and he crashed.

Justin ate dinner with his family (brother, sis in law, 4 nieces, and his mom) and the little man and I headed over once he woke up.

It was a bit depressing that I only ate one small plate and had no left overs!  Oh well, my waist line thanks me.  I also plan to make a repeat of Thanksgiving dinner on Christmas.
And YAY for a Cowboys win!!!

I barely took any pictures of the whole weekend since we were potty training.  But here are a few gems:

Wearing his "football"helmet, holding his football, golf ball, and screwdriver, watching football.
My boy in a single photo.

Finally picked the tile!

Whole30 Snacks

With Thanksgiving two days away, I wanted to share some Whole30 Snack ideas that I'm keeping on hand.  Besides the obvious - whole fruits and veggies (think: sliced fruit, grapes, blackberries, carrot sticks, sliced veggies etc).

Those are delicious and great snacks - but I like to mix it up so I don't feel like I'm stuck eating nothing but salads.

Nuts are great (but NOT peanuts)  I love sunflower seeds.  Bonus if they are in their shells - removing them is a distraction and time killer if you are guilty of snacking without thinking!

I love appetizer trays for the olives and pickles!
(careful on pickles though.  Bubbies Brand is the best, but Clausen will do)

Potato Wedges
I'm making these for our Thanksgiving meal.  Great as both a snack and mashed potato replacement.  Dairy is a no-no on Whole30

I'm so excited to try these!

Any good snacks you like?

Five on Friday - Recent Purchases

Just as comfy for half the price!  I picked up a black pair but they have many, many more colors!

2.
I mention Poshmark often, but I was able to snag some J Brand skinny jeans for under $30.

3.
I had a gift card, so I stalked the Old Navy website until I saw a killer price on their cable knit sweaters.
A good bargain and free shipping!
Though, at 5'7" (and with a long torso) I should have ordered Talls.  It's always hit and miss with length for me.  So they are back in the mail to be exchanged

4.

I've been dealing with hormonal acne post baby and it's not been fun.  At all.
I started washing my face with coconut oil in the evenings and I've yet to have a new breakout! (which is amazing and I've waiting a whole 30 days just to be sure)
I've read multiple review and I'm excited for my order from Damn Good Face Wash to arrive!

5.
A punch card to a Yoga/Barre/Pilates studio.
Merry Christmas, let me sweat and hurt all over.

Whole30 Prepwork

The concept of Whole30 has intrigued me for the better part of a year.  On my own I had already started cutting out processed/artificial food and drinks.  I've been soda and red bull free for about 6 months now.  I've been cutting out sugary snacks, but Halloween was a huge test for me.   Only a few bite sized candy bars were eaten and everything else was handed out to trick or treaters!  The day after Halloween we were candy free in our house.

I have always been in tune with my body.  My chiropractor has joked that I can feel every shift of muscle and bone.  He's not far off!  Now that I'm paying even more attention to how I feel after eating certain foods, I'm beginning to have a clear picture of cause and effect.

Long winded intro to say I'm going to try Whole30 after the New Year.

I'm not crazy enough to do it over the holidays!  Haha.

By mentally preparing during the hardest season to eat healthy, I know that January will be a successful month.

I've been laying the groundwork and taking Step 5 by storm.  (Step 5: Get Your House in Order)
I'm making as many meals as I can now with all of the non-Whole30 compliant foods we have.  This means lots of pasta, rice, beans, etc.  By making as many meals now as I can, I means that when I run out of something, I'm filling it with a Whole30 compliant food instead.

Already my salad dressing has gotten a face lift.
Pinterest has helped immensely.  I'm already incorporating Whole30 recipes and meal plans into my lunch rotation.

I'm going to try Cauliflower Rice this weekend.

If you've done Whole30 before - have any good recipes to share?

Weekend Wrap-Up

So on Friday this happened:

Yes, I know it's November.  It's earlier than I'd like, but the timing was perfect.

1.  #wiggydiggy had school but neither Justin or I worked.  That meant we could decorate without a toddler around!
2. We are busy every weekend from now until December 17th.  And with his 2nd birthday on the 3rd, and his party on the 10th, I'd rather get the decorations up now.
3.  Thanksgiving is still my favorite holiday.  So it doesn't distract from that at all.  AT ALL.

In other weekend events:
See that bike helmet next to him?  He wears it everywhere.  It's the cutest thing.

We picked his Christmas present!  Justin is off to Home Depot for supplies.

We may have voted differently, we may have voted the same.

Halloween 2016

Confession...
We aren't big Halloween fans.

Thankfully #wiggydiggy is still too young to really understand the concept of Halloween so he doesn't miss the decorations or pumpkin carving.  We did go trick or treating though!  (If you can call it that!  Haha.)

I took our little pilot around my office and around Justin's office.  Then we knocked on two neighbor's doors and called it a night.

#wiggydiggy was so excited to help hand out candy, I think it was a win!

I do love that the pumpkin he carried, is the pumpkin I got for my first trick or treating in 1986,
