Answer Me This?

1. How long have you lived in your current home?

J and I moved in February 28, 2013.  We were engaged on January 19th, the next day we put in an offer on our home.  When the offer was accepted, we headed down to the courthouse and got married! (January 28th).  We did not want to live together until we were married :)

2. How do you find out about news and current events?

Mostly Facebook.  Or J.  He stays on top of the news.

3. Would you be able to make change for a twenty right now? For a dollar?

I only have a $20 bill in my wallet!  I have enough change in my wallet to break at least $2.

4. What's the craziest food you've ever eaten?

Chocolate covered ants.  Tasted like chocolate covered crisp rice.

5. Which of the commonly removed parts have you had removed? (tonsils, wisdom teeth, appendix, etc.)

Wisdom teeth and a mole.  Are moles commonly removed?

6. What's your favorite sport to watch on TV?

I love watching football and golf.  Golf edges out football just a smidgen.  Mostly because it's soothing to watch.

Confessional Friday

I had planned on doing a similar post, but I was so excited to see Leslie is back at A Blond Ambition!

Let's get to it, shall we?

I confess.....

  • Summer really isn't my jam.  I love Fall SO MUCH MORE.  Bring on the jeans, boots and scarfs please.
  • I'm learning how to love my 'natural' hair.  It's harder for me to do than it looks.
    Yes, it is still wet.
  • I'm very annoyed with all of the negative Pregnancy/Post Postpartum Propaganda.
  • I wear the same color on my nails year round - O.P.I. Bubble Bath
  • Bathing suit shopping while breastfeeding is the worst.  Any suggestions for cute/supportive tops?!

While I'm waiting on our house to be 'finished' (will a house *ever* be finished?  Or does a new project always start as soon as you think you're done?) I'm busy:

Donating - Closets full of clothes and stuff and junk to Good Samaritans

Cleaning - Windows, Bathrooms and Clothes

Dusting - the whole house.

Making - A new mobile for #wiggydiggy

Cooking - A few new recipes from Pinterest

Organizing - The bar's storage space

Planting - Flowers in the flower boxes

Shopping - for shorts for #wiggydiggy

Planning - our vacation in July!

Working on - myself.  It's time to kick up the workouts!

Five on Friday - Father's Favorites

Today is all about alliteration!

No, not really.  Today is my preparation for Father's Day!  Our lil man is pretty enamored with Justin, so it's no surprise that he picked out some great gifts for his Daddy.

1.
This is our favorite show to unwind to.  No matter how many times we've watched an episode, it will still bring laughs.

2.
Justin loves to golf.  He's used the same clubs for almost 15 years.  It's time for an upgrade.

3.
J has wanted a pair of Sperry's for a few years.  I think it's high time he gets his own. (after all I have three pairs....)

4.
A nice steak dinner at home with a great bottle of wine.

5.
A whole weekend on the lake with good friends and good food!!

We love you Justin!!

Coffee Table Makeover

Remember that Sneak Peek I hinted about before Thanksgiving (i.e. 7 months ago?!)  Well we FINALLY put the finishing touches on last weekend.

This was written last November:

Half of our home is brand new.  The other half is a modge podge of our individual items becoming 'ours' and hand me downs from family members.  I wouldn't have it any other way :)  I love that I can look at each item in our home and know that there is a story that is attached.  Our living room couches?  They were bought the day before we got married.  My mom was in town visiting and she had a blast helping us figure out how to get them from Costco to our storage unit in less than an hour.  The living room lamps?  J and I impulse shopped at Target last holiday season and came home with the lamp shades that ended up setting the stage for the rest of our decor.  Our coffee table?  It was from J's parents house.  His mom was redecorating her home office and didn't need the table anymore.  It fit perfectly in the middle of our living room.

As we slowly update a section of our home at a time, I kept getting pulled back to our living room.  With the dark couches and dark coffee table, it felt 'heavy' in there.  Does that make sense?  There isn't much natural light in our living room so I painted the cream fireplace white.  We added our white wall to the entry way (as seen in the weekly bump pictures) and then I painted the back of the door white.  The living room still felt 'heavy' even with all of the new, bright, white.  So I decided to let the wild hair take over.

J had been planning on building our end tables for weeks.  I decided to take full advantage of the tools and supplies in the garage and strip our coffee table down at the same time.  We are still on the lookout for our perfect coffee table, but that's no reason not to update what we currently have!  Thankfully sanding the top was a piece of cake.  The legs were another story.  So I headed to Pinterest and ended up finding some awesome pieces that were white and gray.  I was SOLD.  Thankfully, God bless my amazing husband, he was on board with my wild hair.

After sitting in our living room for months with only stain on, we finally were able to get a few coats of poly on over the weekend:

The End Table J made

We stained the end table and the top of the coffee table gray.  I then used the same white paint we are using everywhere else to pain the underside of the coffee table.  I love the finished look.  Our living room still has a way to go, but this is a step in the right direction!

If You Really Knew Me...

...you would know that
  • I'm terrified of spiders.  Any size, does not matter.
  • I'm an Introvert.  ISFJ, actually.
  • I suffer from depression, but becoming a mom is the best natural anti-depressant!
  • When I think of how I'm going to get around town, I still think of Lincoln, NE streets.
  • I'm a speed reader.
  • Laundry is my favorite chore.
  • Vacuuming is my least favorite.
  • I'm guilty of having high expectations

  • I was a picky eater as a child, but in the last 5 years I've been open to trying new things.
  • Except mushrooms.  Gross.
  • I want to take care of everyone.   Invite me over and I'm going to want to clean your house and make you dinner.

  • I'm a klutz and a nervous talker.
  • I could spend all day shopping, and not spend a dime.
  • I love meeting new people, but I'm not good at making the first move.  Shy, party of one.

  • I'm an open book, ask me anything!

Five on Friday - 6 Month Favorites

It is amazing how quickly babies grow and develop in one year.  Nothing we 'loved' at months 1 or 2 are the favorites now!

1.
Fisher Price Jumperoo
We have this Rainforest Friends one at home and daycare has a similar one.  If there is no jumperoo handy, you'll stand and jump in our laps.  Giggles and smiles galore!

2.
Walker
Your daycare has one that you FINALLY are tall enough to play in.  You love it so much, I went out and found a similar one at a garage sale.  All you want to do is pick up your feet and 'stomp'.  You love pulling yourself up.

3.
Nuby Mesh Feeder
Our favorite is the Nuby Brand.  You LOVE holding this and gumming away.  I'm excited to try some frozen veggies or fruit when you are having a bad teething day.  (though I'm not excited for a bad teething day.)

4.
This is the third sippy cup we've tried with you, and it is your favorite so far.  I found another one at Target on the clearance rack that you like as well, but I have no clue what brand it is.  You love holding your bottle at daycare, so I think it's time to start the transition to using a cup at meal times.

5.
Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes

This toy may say three months, but you still love playing with it.  If you ever see this toy, you light up and ignore everything else you were playing with.  Chewing the caterpillar and staring at the lights still intrigue you.  It's your own little iPod ;)
