Friday Five - Hair Favorites

Happy Friday!!  NEXT WEEK IS THANKSGIVING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you tell which holiday is my favorite?  Haha.

While I was pulling out suitcases to pack for some upcoming trips (!!!) I've realized I've narrowed down my travel sized hair products to my tried and true favorites.
I love passing along great products - why should I keep that a secret!

1.

I've used this off and on for years, but it wasn't until I was teaching myself how to do a blow-out at home that I realized how important a heat protectant was.  I love how this makes my hair feel and look.  So shiny!

2.
Honestly - I buy this at TJ Maxx in bulk.

I love this dry shampoo.  Once I moved to washing every other day I did a lot of research on how to use dry shampoo the best.

My steps for success?
1.  Apply to Clean hair
2. Apply at Night
3. Pull hair into a super high pony (also called Pineappling.  Who knew this was a 'thing'?)
4. Sleep on a silk/satin pillowcase

3.
I bought a three pack on a whim in Sephora one day and now I'm an addict.
There aren't meant to replace your gym hair ties.
Instead, these babies are what I use at night.  I wake up with CREASELESS HAIR!
I even keep one in my car when I want to pull my hair way from my face but not deal with the dreaded hair dent when I get to my destination.

4.

This is SO cheap and it works SO well!  I only use it once a week or so instead of my regular conditioner.  I love how soft it makes my hair and it smells delicious.

5.

I will never go back.
Even my husband refuses to sleep on anything but a silk pillowcase.

There are so many reasons (here's one, another, and another!) to sleep on a silk pillowcase, you're 100% worth it.

What are your tried and true hair products?  I'd love to try something new!

Weeks 12 and 13

Woo!  Look who saved the dress!  haha
(Note to self - don't take the photo RIGHT after dinner)

Are you shocked?  Because we were.  For a few weeks actually.

After our last loss, we were told we had a 7% chance of a viable pregnancy if we wanted to try again.  We decided not to, so we weren't trying.  God blesses us when we least expect it :)

Current Update:

Weight:  No change yet

Stretch marks: Nothing yet.

Sleep: Bedtime is still early and I'm sleeping well.  Occasionally I have to wake up for a potty break.

Gender: We aren't finding out :)

Movement: Nothing I can feel.

Best moment this week: Hearing the beautiful heartbeat.

Looking forward to: Thanksgiving!  I have food aversion (again.) but I'm hoping that I can put my pregnancy pants to good use.  Haha.

Food cravings: Food aversion is hitting hard over here.  Though pomegranate sounds pretty good right now.

What I miss: Nothing so far.

Symptoms: First trimester nausea is gone and I'm just feeling a bit tired.

Workouts: Pilates classes have ended so I'm hitting the gym a few times a week

Things that suck: BLOAT.  Ugh.  I didn't deal with this symptom so early with #wiggydiggy

Things that don't suck: a tiny bump!  Thank you Pilates classes.  I give all the credit for my stronger abs to you.

One Big Surprise

We still can't believe our little miracle!!

First trimester wasn't horrible.  I had some nausea, but no sickness.  I moved my bedtime up before #wiggydiggy's because I just couldn't keep my eyes open.

I was still going to Pilates classes and I credit my strong abs for a much smaller bump this go round.  Justin and I are so excited for #wiggydiggy to become a big brother.  He's excited for a baby and asks (to Justin's dismay) for a baby sister to come this May. :)

We won't find out the gender, so it'll be a surprise for all of us!

And a very special Thank You to all of you who reached out and prayed for us after our last loss.  This is such a miracle and we are so grateful for all of your well wishes.

Halloween Recap and Happy November!!

 Happy November 1st!!

This is my favorite time of year.
Family, food, and festivities!

Neither Justin nor I are big Halloween fans.  We decorate for fall and that's about it.
However, we live in a HUGE trick or treating area, so we have to buy candy in bulk.

This year we hosted a pumpkin carving party for #wiggydiggy's best buddies.

On Monday his class had their Halloween party.

Our little Husker!

Eating his favorite treat - cupcakes!

Then on Halloween I picked him up early to trick or treat at my work and then Justin's work.
The sweetest part?  That's my pumpkin from the 80's :)

He ADORED my boss's T-Rex!

After dad's work he was D.O.N.E with trick or treating.  He was a much happier camper handing out candy to all of the kiddo's that came to our door.

We did have to take him across the street to our sweetest neighbors.  They packed a special Halloween treat just for him.

We were out of candy by 730, asleep by 8, and woke up to snow!

Welcome November.
We love you.

Friday Links

This weekend we are hosting a pumpkin carving party for some of #wiggydiggy's best pals (and their parents!)  I'm not a big Halloween fan, so I could honestly skip to November 1st and be good :)

1.

I can't wait to wear this with leggings this holiday season!

2.
Trying a new Potato Soup Recipe this weekend!
Do you have a tried and true Potato Soup Recipe?  I'd love to try it!

Time to break out the Dutch Oven.

3.
We have made our Thanksgiving plans and I CANNOT wait!!

This year I hope we get to watch the Thanksgiving Day parade with #wiggydiggy and I'll share a fun of these fun Thanksgiving facts!

4.
Cristina at Caroline Charm has THE cutest giveaway!  Go to her page to enter!!
I would LOVE to get a Best Friends Coffee Mug with Montana and Nebraksa
Though - let's be honest, I'd rather be back in Nebraska :)

I think that I may have to get one as a Christmas Gift....

5.
I know I've talked about the best dupe to Lipsense before.  Now I can actually compare to Lipsense.  My bestie mailed me the lipsense she had purchased (and wasn't a fan of) and I did a full comparison.

Uh....so not worth it!  Buy the dupe!

One coat, practically any lip gloss/stick works with it, and it last ALL.DAY.LONG.

My three coats of lipsense and only their gloss lasted until lunch.  Then it looked like I had lipliner on for the rest of the day.  Not really the look I was going for.

Happy Weekend!!

And Happy Halloween Weekend!

A Quick Getaway

My main guy and I took a weekend to spend just being us.

I find it interesting how parents find themselves so focused on their parental role that they forget to focus on their spousal role.

It was so nice (and so very odd) to spend a few hours driving north just talking (without a sweet voice in the back pitching in).

I took quite a few photos.....that I think only ended up on snapchat?  Oh well.  Our cabin was ADORABLE.
When we visited this summer, we chatted with the owners of a children's boutique on the main street.  Not only do they have the cutest items but they are the sweetest people ever!  They recommended Bridge Street Cottages for a stay the next time we came to town.

I am SO glad they did!  We loved it.  I'm already trying to figure out how to get back :)

We stayed in a deluxe river cottage and we both wished we had more time there.  It was the perfect setting and perfect time of year to visit.
View from the bedroom

Packed up and ready to go.

If you are even in Bigfork, MT, I recommend you take a night and stay here.

I'm so lucky he's my guy.

Friday the 13th Edition

Happy Friday the 13th!!

I've never thought of Friday the 13th as *bad*.  Probably because my brother was born on Friday the 13th, and having a brother isn't so bad!  Haha.

1.

First up - our new toothbrushes!
A few weeks ago we stood in the aisle at Target and picked our new toothbrushes.  I mentioned that I wanted an electric toothbrush for Christmas and Justin echoed my sentiment.

A few hours of research later and I KEPT stumbling across Quip.
What intrigued me the most was the 3 month refill program.  A new head AND battery every three months?  Yes please!

Doesn't help that the design is beautiful. :)

2.

My first Ipsy bag arrive and I LOVE it!!
I tried one of my face masks last night.

3-5
Family Pictures

We had a mini session Saturday morning and we lucked out BIG time with the weather.  It snowed that afternoon.
We used LC Photography.  She was AMAZING!  I can't wait to take more photos with her!
Now I just have to choose.....

Check out LC Photography if you're in the area!!

#wiggydiggy | 34 months!!

Watching you grow up before our eyes is such a joy and absolutely heartbreaking.

We love you #wiggydiggy!!!

How are you going to be 3 in two months?!

You are SO tall.  Over 34" (I really should measure you soon....) and still thin.  You are wearing 3T tops and 2T jeans.  Some sweatpants are 3T if they have a drawstring waist ;)
Your dad and I laugh at your feet.  You were born with such long feet that seemed to have forgotten how to grow!  Currently in size 7 shoes.

100% potty trained (day and night) and 100% Mr. Independent.  You love your new school and your independence has more than doubled since starting.  You like to clean up after your eat and pick up your toys without us asking (?!?!?!) and you are even using your manners without us prompting!

However, you do scream pretty loud when you aren't getting your way.  We do need to work with you more on using your words vs. hitting when you get angry.  #terribletwos

You tell the most detailed stories about your day at dinner time.  Your dad and I LOVE when you wake up in the morning.  You first demand your applesauce pouch and then you sing us songs.  ABC's, Twinkle Twinkle, Ba Ba Black Sheep, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and so on.

I hope you stay our happy and bright boy for the rest of your life.  We love you so much.

5 on Friday

Where did this week go?  Holy buckets.  I feel like I'm stuck a few days behind trying to play catch up.

1.
Our little family headed to Red Lodge/Billings area last weekend.  Our big plans of welcoming fall by driving over the Beartooth Pass were squashed......by snow.

Little boy LOVED our view from the 17th floor.  He spotted every 'Bambulance" and "Fire Fighter' truck that drove by.

2.
The Billings Zoo

I was pleasently surprised by the zoo!  #wiggydiggy loved seeing all of the big animals and the petting zoo.

Also, the playground was a huge hit.  He ran out all of his energy before getting back in the car -
2 hour car nap for the win!

3.
I did it.  I hired a monthly Cleaning Service.

On Father's Day, #wiggydiggy and I hired out some of the big yard work projects and a weekly mower.  It was such a great investment in our family and extremely affordable.

With winter coming, I thought it would be a great time to have a good deep clean of the house (all of the projects have kept us in a serious layer of dust......that NEVER GOES AWAY no matter how many times I dust).

I don't regret hiring Jessica for one minute.  Our house has never looked so clean and I have been able to spend more time playing with #wiggyidggy in the evenings vs scrubbing floors!

4.
I'm in desperate need of  hair cut and my gal is on maternity leave.
I'm trying a new place next week, now I just need to find a cut I like!
Current Contenders

I'm loving the long layers with focus around the face.  Maybe I'll go for a color too.....

5.

The last window gets installed next week!  Hallelujah!!
Then we can focus on trimming out the remaining windows!
We can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Hallelujah!!

Five on Friday - Fall!

I have a cold :(
We had a change in the weather (!!!) and I'm suffering with boxes of kleenex.

1.
Last week I told you we were praying for snow - this week we have snow!

Yes.  That's right.  In the high elevations, snow is falling.  Down here in the valley it's in the 40's and has been raining for two days.  Hallelujah!!
I hope this means forest fire season is over.

2.
With a 40 degree temperature drop, it brings out all the fall clothes.
I picked up these awesome rain boots from Zulily last spring:
You can find them here.  I normally wear a 7 1/2 but I ordered a 7 in these.  They fit perfectly.
And I loved the Zulily price vs. Hunter boots.
I wore them yesterday while I was doing field work and they were perfect.   My feet were warm all day and they cleaned up in a snap!

(I'm also wearing them today.  #outfitrepeater)

3.

I am SO LATE to the Ipsy game and I totally regret it.
(thank you Joslyn.  You always know the best stuff)

$10 a month for beauty products that are curated for ME?!  Uh, YEAH!
I answered the quiz honestly and I was floored at my first bag - all items I'm totally interested in!
Mascara, face masks, lipstick.

I think I'll spend less on makeup with this subscription.
$10 a month is less than I'm spending now just to refill my usual items!

4.

I make this on repeat all fall and winter and it has yet to fail me.

I do need to pick up a real cast iron dutch oven, but my ceramic one has been working just fine.

5.
Gift Giving Season

Taking suggestions of great gifts for a 3 year old boy!

We are currently thinking about the Kids Kindle Fire with some headphones as his BIG gift from us, but we have Birthday AND Christmas in December.

Any great toys your kiddo's loved at 3?
